Shiver Me Timbers!“AVAST YE me hearties!”, this is one story that has shiver me timbers and will do yours too as the author’s smooth sailing writing takes you on an exciting visionary journey through the Caribbean upon Luisa’s ship the Coral as Luisa searches for her father. The story is filled with mysterious magic full of curses, legendary myths, and passionate desire that will have you firing your cannon through the porthole. The characters are addicting and fun, they have you so caug [...]

There are some books in the romance genre that are so wrapped up in "finding love," the entire plot seems to revolve around the needs of the two main characters. Even when there's danger involved, these kinds of books tend to be anti-climactic. The man has no purpose without the woman. The woman has no future without the man. They live for each other and apart they are nothing. I'm sure some people find this terribly romantic. But I find it depressing. There's more to love than finding someone w [...]

Zannini did a fantastic job of immersing the reader into the life of a pirate. The book has an extremely unique outlook: putting the heroine in a position outside of a typical female realm, as a pirate captain. The Romeo and Juliet-ish story enhances the plot with Luisa, the heroine pirate captain wanting the perfect man for her, and strangely enough finding the perfect match in Xander Daltry, a pirate-hunting captain. The intermixing of other paranormal entities from witches and curses to werew [...]

A rollicking, well detailed cross-genre tale which mixes pirates with werewolves in the Caribbean.Luisa Tavares is a Portuguese sea-captain's daughter at the helm of her own pirate ship, the Coral. Her feminine side is kept well hidden though she privately enjoys captured silk clothes. Every man aboard has sworn an oath to her father to protect her and treat her with respect, and their loyalty is tested when word reaches Luisa that her father has been captured by a mad Frenchman called Luc Saint [...]

Maria Zannini “Mistress of the Stone” was a fun and easy read; truly an awesome story that I will remember the rest of my life. The book was creative and one of a kind. Combining both fantasy and paranormal together and bring into existence this work of art. I adored the characters and plot of the story. Luísa Tavares who is the captain of the ship of pirates is searching for her father as Xander Daltry is picked up by her ship. He wants to break a curse and both have to work together if th [...]

This is the second book by Maria Zannini that I have read so far. Very different from the first, I loved it. The story has intense moments that will have you sitting on the edge of the seat rooting for the main characters, peppered with hot erotic scenes that will leave you breathless. The story is fast-paced, the characters varied and the ending is a happy one, my favourite kind,I find the author’s take on paranormal romance is different than anything I’ve read before. Mixing werewolves and [...]

I can't say that I am a pirate expert. But after reading this novel, I almost feel I could high tail it out to the seven seas with the best of them.Maria did a fantastic job of immersing me into the sea life, the life of a pirate and even further into the heart of a woman pitted in a position unlike any other. A female pirate ship captain? Bah. And a good one at that? Bah. Yeah, Maria did just that. And made excellent reading from start to finish.Mind you, there are some heart pounding moments t [...]

I heard this book was a historical (not a huge fan), with some paranormal thrown in (which I love), so I was a little wary about reading this. Well, I shouldn't have worried. I really loved this book. It's not set in any particular time (that's given), just sometime in the distant past, and there's plenty of paranormal to go around. Yeah, I'm a big fan of paranormal and action and love and this book accomplished all three! Thoroughly entertaining.

    • Hillary Hunt says:

There's this tinker bell movie where one of the fairies only thinks she's a bad ass pirate captain, but she's really just being tolerated because there's something else about her (and it's not her skills as a pirate) that all the men want. That's what this book reminded me of. Disappointing.
