      The author was an attorney. I've tried more than one of her books, just to make sure and give her a fair shake. The premise of the story seemed as if it could be interesting, so I gave it a try. To me, the young attorney is written as well beyond her years and nowhere near how a real young woman of her age would talk or behave (a common problem, I think, whenever any middle-aged lawyer tries to create characters younger than themselves).       This is part legal/political thriller but mostly an old fashioned who done it. Lots of characters,with motive, secrets etc. 1998 copyright so at times I caught myself asking why are you using public telephones etc. But, the date doesn't impair the story at all. It was enjoyable read.

      Lots of twists and turns for a surprise ending.

      The main character was at times incredibly smart and incredibly dumb.Probably a lot like most of us!!!
