3 1/2 starsI like Ms. Burton straightforward writing style - not that I've read many books by her - and the premise of this book sounded very interesting, so I willingly chose it to get over my smut reading funk.It started out well Aidan, the hero, was one naughty, yummy bad boy who could raise up my temperature anytime, anywhere, and Melissa, the heroine, was a cool, controlled and seemingly no-nonsense woman who was most likely to melt under Aidan's pursuit. The sexual chemistry between them w [...]

Good reads. The four Storm siblings run an upscale hotel in New Orleans. The family has magic - which the four siblings either embrace or reject in varying degrees. According to their mother they each have a Destiny [with a capital D:] to find THE ONE and lived happily ever after.Summer Heat is Aiden's, [brother #2:], book. His powers are summer powers: storms and lightening, sultry heat and warm summer rain. Although he enjoys his powers it's more play for him than anything else. And he figures [...]

3.5 This started out good. I enjoyed the banter between Aidan and Melissa. But it became annoying when they would they both would go back and forth with what they felt. I was like alright already! Geez. Honestly Aidan was hot and sexy as hell but he love playing mind games with Melissa. She in turn tried to play and would get angry when she didn't get the reaction or results she wanted.I could have done without some of it. What I did love was Aidan's family. They were great. I loved the way the [...]

Oh My. Fanning myself. Summer Heat does not BEGIN to describe this book. Hot Hot Hot. Aiden runs a hotel in New Orleans with his family, the Storms. Melissa is in town to consult on adding a casino to the hotel. When they meet it is sparks and lightning. Of course Melissa does not want to be just another notch on his notch covered bed post and Aiden does not want to get involved beyond a one night standbut they are drawn together. This is the first the series and the other brothers and sisters a [...]

3 1/2 stars enjoyable beach read. I'm looking forward to the rest of the series.

    • Mollie *scoutrmom* says:

The heroine is a slutty wimp.

    • Marla Dudak says:

If you like no story, minimal dialogue, underdeveloped characters, and lots of thunderstorms, this book is for you.

    • Charlotte says:

A romance with a paranormal twist. I like the paranormal aspect, breaks up the normal romance bit. The book is well written. I will be looking for book 2.

    • Linda says:

SteamyJacki Burton does not disappoint with her vivid scenes of love and passion. I can’t wait to continue reading the next book in the series.

    • Diana~ (Kiss Me Books) says:

We all have come to know and love some of the stories by Jaci Burton. In the end, this book was a pretty steamy read but it also had some flaws as well. It seems like the author has a formula to her stories, whether it be the heroine think she's not good enough for the hero and she doesn't want her heart at risk (The Perfect Play), or something like this where the H/Hr are both in denial of their love for one another and they don't want to risk their hearts either. Either way, I still enjoyed th [...]

This book introduce us to the Storm family. Every single member of this family looks like that came out straight from GQ magazine or (whatever female magazine - can’t think of one now)… they all are easygoing characters that you fall for at first sight. Aindan Storm is a womanizer; loves women and knows what they want - and has a huge ego towards himself. And single (I have no idea why wanted to place this detail here). There’s something otherworldly about him (and his family), and I’m t [...]

Aidan uses his powers only when it suits his purposes. Wielding the magic of summer heat can be advantageous when heating up the sheets with his girl-du-jour. Until he meets Melissa Cross. She fires him up hotter than a Louisiana heat wave and if he doesn't watch his heart he might suffer a meltdown.Melissa Cross is a staid Bostonian feeling like a fish out of water working alongside Aidan Storm and his peculiar family. When strange things start happening whenever she's with Aidan, she wonders w [...]

Fun, hot read from Jaci Burton. Melissa grew up in Boston but after a failed relationship that affected her work, she’s closed herself to passion and relationships. Aidan grew up in New Orleans amid the magic and the heat of the city. When Melissa travels to New Orleans to work with Aidan and his family in a joint business venture, she’s not quite sure what to think. The heat and the humidity affect her almost immediately, she starts to thaw out of her cool exterior. But Melissa has already [...]

A storm of sorts blooming, its more than the New Orleans sultry heat that is making it happenThe magical chemistry & passion between Aidan & Melissa is explosive & hot. But will Melissa let her frosty Bostonian exterior down to feel what actually is happening? And will Aidan actually stop his womanizing ways, and open his eye to tantalizing magic that happen when these two get together? Hot interesting read This seems like this will be an interesting series, and just like many of oth [...]

    • Michelle Tempted By Books says:

The Storm family of New Orleans Louisiana has magic. Angelina and Galen Storm have four children who have the power of each of the seasons within them. This series follows the four Storm children as they search for their “destiny” and fall hopelessly in love. I really enjoyed these books, while Burton isn’t that great at writing, paranormal in my opinion, she does a great job with this one. The majority of the writing is based in modern New Orleans reality; the magic is sort of just an aft [...]

If it weren't for the geographical inconsistencies and people speaking French at random times, this would be a pretty good book set in New Orleans. Except it doesn't really have anything to do with New Orleans except for the "Voodoo" which isn't really voodoo. Still it was light hearted and fun and a tad dialogue heavy. Also, no one actually cooks oysters and hollandaise sauce for breakfast just for fun too much work. That would be for a holiday only.

    • Sarah says:

I loved the family and idea of powers through voodoo (power over weather). I loved the whole big family getting together and loving supporting and celebrating together. I really struggled to like Aidan. I didn't like the way he treated Melissa. One minute he's all over her, giving her ideas then breaking her heart. Really annoyed me but not enough to stop reading the series.

    • Mary Lauer says:

Very enjoyable. I was at a loss for a book Sunday morning, and picked this one up to read before diving into Fall Fury. By the second page I knew this was the book I wanted to read. Loved the characters. The only reason it doesn't get more stars is I am just not a fan of the magic as presented. No biggie. The story still works really well.

    • Amy says:

Hot, hot, hot. Jaci knows how to create likable, sexy characters. Both Malissa and Aiden are strong, and entertaining characters. I liked that they were almost instantly attracted to eachother, even though Melissa tried to keep things professional, once she discovered Aiden was the one she'd be working with for the project.

    • Kate says:

I just finished reading this yesterday and I couldn't put it down. It was so easy to fall in love with the Storm family! I can't wait to read the next one!Aidan and Melissa were an addicting couple. They were both in total denial at first but you can't fight true love people! They were so cute together. I loved a lot of their playful banter - too cute! Great read!

    • Ruthie Taylor says:

Ms Burton's books never disappoint. They combine a good storyline, with some stunningly hot characters, and this first in the Storm series, is no exception. I have already got the second book ready to go. The added element of weather magic steams up the page even more than usual, and Frosty Cross never stood a chance!

    • Darcy says:

Aidan really turned me off from the start, he was a leech! I also hated how he would use magic against Melissa. It brushed too close to the rape line for me. I don't care to read anymore, this one just isn't for me.

    • pamelahudson says:

Really enjoy this bookReally enjoy this bookI really enjoyed this book. I've readied a lot of books from this author and enjoyed all of them. if you like a really goodbye story read this book

    • marlene says:

if we could have added just a little bit more of non relationship story line this would have been perfect. especially because it was a perfect setting for one. a Nola hotel looking to expand into the casino business? love it! i fell in love with the Storm family pretty fast in this one.

    • The Lusty Literate says:

This book is HOT. Adian is no prince. He's sort of terrible and bossy. But he's so sexy and talented his imperfect personality is easy to forget. The story is long enough to believe that love could grow between the two. Entertaining erotic escapism.

    • Christy says:

Fantastic series! I really enjoyed all 4 books. It was different and super hot. :0)

    • Landy Jimenez says:

4.5 stars a other great book by Jaci Burton. cantante wait to read the rest in the series.

    • Kate says:

Like the writing and the concept, but the indecision on both the H and the h parts was frustrating.

    • Francene says:

This was a very different story that I enjoyed reading.

    • Mskychick says:

Oh my god these characters were annoying. The yo-yo of yes I'm attracted, no I'm not. Back and forth and back and forth. Ugh.
