      To start let’s let this book remind us how important a good title is, because this title is marvelous, and is surely part of what convinced me to sink however many dollars into this book. (Of course it is the title of one of the poems.)I enjoyed this very interesting book. I especially admired the poet’s turns of phrase and her ability to surprise.       The delicacy of Arrieu-King's sensibility, her refinement, her peerless powers of observationis is a stunning debut.

      I was drawn to this book because of the title, but I cannot say I was able to connect with the poetry in People are Tiny in Paintings of China. There is an underlying tone of passive-aggressive rage that I found quite unsettling - even off-putting. It is an emotion I have felt pervade other literary works, and perhaps it comes from the author's attempt to deal with past issues from her mixed Chinese-French heritage.       this is a beautiful book. it takes old themes and transforms them. I am in awe! 'white suitcase' is my favorite.
